The band describes their new sound like a “vampire’s smile”
“Death pop” masters High Parasite, the UK band fronted by My Dying Bride’s Aaron Stainthorpe, have dropped the stand-alone single “The Screams That Come” via Spinefarm on September 11th, along with the official lyric video. The song was produced by a metal veteran, Paradise Lost guitarist and co-founder Gregor Mackintosh and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory (Meshuggah, Katatonia).

The release coincided with the band’s live set at London Metalfest 2026 on September 12, supporting Candlemass at Camden’s Electric Ballroom. On the day of the event, the band also held a signing session at Raven Records.
Since dropping their debut album Forever We Burn in September 2024, the five-piece — Aaron Stainthorpe (vocals), Tombs (bass and vocals), Sam Hill (rhythm guitar), Jonny Hunter (lead guitar), and Dan Brown (drums) — have toured nonstop, supporting Cradle Of Filth and Paradise Lost and playing festivals like Bloodstock and Brutal Assault. With Halloween festivities approaching, High Parasite aren’t missing out on this gothic, dark-holiday opportunity to showcase their new “death pop” material. The band is headlining their own show at Halifax’s Albany Arcade on October 31, wrapping up their 2026 run.

“We’ve coined the term ‘Death Pop’ to define our music; we definitely have a strong affinity with all things gothic and dark, but at the same time we’re collectively drawn to strong hooks and melodies, to choruses that stick in the mind. I guess we walk a shadowy, sometimes twisted path between those two worlds; you can hear it on ‘The Screams That Come’, and even more on the second album. It’s like the vampire’s smile: seemingly welcoming, at least at a distance, but boy, those teeth are razor sharp!”
