“CMYM” comes ahead of her band’s highly anticipated debut album
Alexandra Căpitănescu has released a seductive new single, titled “CMYM (Can’t Make You Mine)”, offering us another taste of the debut album, which is due out later this year. We’ve all formed a dark-energy, rock/opera image of Alexandra following her 2026 Eurovision Song Contest participation, where she represented Romania with the song “Choke Me”, but “CMYM” is on a completely different side of the spectrum, showcasing Alexandra’s lighter, ethereal, contemplating side.

The new single addresses the tension of the attraction, desire for closeness and insecurity that comes with the unanswered questions in your head: does he like me as much I like him, or is it just my imagination? Introducing the track, Alexandra says it’s one of the most lighthearted tracks on her upcoming album:
“‘CMYM’ is one of the most playful tracks on the album. It’s about attraction and that moment when you know there’s chemistry between you, but you’re still wondering who will make the first move. I wanted this track to sound confident, energetic, and a little dangerous.”
The song was born with a catchy tune Alexandra’s band member Bogdan Stoican played her at home. The rest of the songwriting came natural, as the lyric thread of unequal intensity of feelings developed. Alexandra remembers:
“CMYM is a song that started from the instrumental that Bogdan built at home. I really liked the vibe, so I decided to compose the melody and lyrics. This time I felt like writing about the desire to be as close as possible to the person I love and about the fact that feelings are not always equal in couples, and this can make us doubt ourselves.”
With “Choke Me” and “CMYM” offering a juxtaposition of music tastes on the upcoming album, the debut record promises to have “food for every mood”. While an exact calendar date has not been finalized, the band’s socials state the album is completely finished and scheduled for a late 2026 release through Universal Music Romania.
“Hard work, not enough sleep and some months full of memories went into it, but our album is finally ready,” says Alexandra’s Instagram update. “These are some BTS from the photoshoot for the album and we can not wait to introduce it to you very soon.”
