The new Pendulum sound could be summarized in three words: expect the unexpected
Australian electro-rockers Pendulum have just announced their first new album in 15 years. The upcoming record is titled Inertia and scheduled for release on August 22. The news of the band’s full-length comes with the launch of the first album single, ‘Save The Cat’.
‘Save The Cat’ marks a new direction and music spectrum, embraced by the band. It’s difficult to place the track onto a certain genre shelf, as it defies their fans’ expectations, playing with industrial beats, screamo vocals, metalcore aggression and mindboggling transitions.

The lead single strikes from the beginning as a detour from Pendulum’s more polished electro-sound to a raw, stripped, in-your-face metal kaleidoscope. While still sounding anthemic, Rob Swire’s vocals swerve into a less commercial and more unleashed, free-spirit screamo lane.
Pendulum’s frontman opened up that the song lyrics address “self-questioning and frustration,” caused by two breakups, hence, the rebellious side to the new track.
