The new record is coming this August: “It’s going to be a good record”, promises Chino Moreno
Deftones have announced the release of their long-awaited new album, titled private music. It will be the band’s tenth album – the first one since Ohms. The record is due for release August 22, 2025, via Reprise/Warner Records. The first taste of the new album, single ‘my mind is a mountain’ premiered today at “World Record” on Zane Lowe’s show via Apple Music. Listen to the song below.
Presenting the new single and upcoming album, Lowe met with Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Abe Cunningham and Frank Delgado face to face at the legendary Canter’s Deli in Hollywood. Even though between the previous album and the upcoming one there’s been a massive gap of five years, the band members stressed in the interview with Lowe that taking their time was of high importance to them to make quality music.
“We’ve learned we don’t need to ram it in a two-month period or force it that way and allow us to live our lives separately and together and make it work”, says Cunningham, Deftones’ drummer.

Private music was composed and recorded in several locations in California – from Malibu to Nashville. It was produced and recorded together with Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz, who worked with Deftones earlier on Diamond Eyes (2010) and Koi No Yokan (2012). Making the album has proved to be a necessary bonding experience for the band as a unit, as well. “I’m just incredibly grateful, man, you know, for again to have another chance to make an album, you know, to get together with you guys”, admits Delgado.

The same day private music is out, Deftones will set out on the North American tour leg, starting in Vancouver. On their headlining shows they’ll be supported by Phantogram, IDLES and Barbarians of California on select dates. Early next year, the band is embarking on a European tour with ticket presale kicking off July 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
