Fans can await a seven-song EP to drop this September
Daughtry have announced the release of their new EP, titled Shock to the System (Part Two), due out September 12 via Big Machine Rock. The band offered their fans the first taste of the new seven-song record back in April when they dropped the single ‘The Day I Die’. The song unveiled the introspective and escape-longing chapter on Daughtry’s music path. The journey continues with the second single, ‘The Bottom’, launched today.
‘The Bottom’ lyrics convey a somber picture of Chris Daughtry’s state of mind – completely in shambles and literally hitting the bottom of mental exhaustion:
I had a reason, I felt in my bones
I lost my grip and the darkness took a hold of me
Can't breathe
Chris’s vocals in the verses of ‘The Bottom’ sound unusually raspy and low-register, helping the vocalist to deliver the sense of the emotional hole he found himself in. As the song progresses towards the chorus, we get to hear Chris’s familiar powerful timbre, representing the struggle and conscious effort to crawl his way back up.

“Shock to the System is about facing the things we’ve ignored and confronting the wake-up calls that force us to go deeper and get honest,” says the band’s frontman.
“These songs unlocked something in me as a writer and a human being. Part Two is the result of that journey.”
‘The Bottom’ and ‘The Day I Die’ have pretty large shoes to fill in. Prior to the recently released EP tracks, Daughtry had dropped #1 singles on Active Rock, ‘Artificial’ and ‘Pieces’, and criss-crossed the U.S. during their recent co-headlining tour runs with Breaking Benjamin, Staind and Disturbed.
Next year, in early 2026, Daughtry will be joining Alter Bridge and Sevendust on the extensive ‘What Lies Within’ European Tour. The tour will be a 31-date arena leg, spanning across 17 countries. It kicks off January 15 in Hamburg, Germany and wraps up in March with five shows in the UK.
