Mike Shinoda has decided to revive his hip-hop project FORT MINOR, a decade since the first record, The Rising Tied

June 26, 2015

It’s been 10 long years since Shinoda’s hip-hop project Fort Minor released its first record, titled The Rising Tied. Shinoda was then busy with Linkin Park as his main band but a couple of days ago it came to light that Fort Minor are coming back with the brand new single, ‘Welcome’ and a music video for it. The single is also expected to be released as vinyl edition.

The musician says, “Although Linkin Park was eventually embraced by millions, I eventually felt drawn back to the ‘outside’ — to reconnect with my voice and aesthetic as an individual. It’s modern DIY, fueled by technology, inspiration and ambition.” (via Loudwire).

The music video for ‘Welcome’ was shot in VR/360. It features Shinoda painting a 12×80 foot canvas mural in Venice Beach, California. The mural was then broken apart into separate album sleeves, which will be used for the vinyl release of the single.

Fort Minor are playing in Los Angeles June 29. As for Mike Shinoda’s main band, Linkin Park, you may check them out performing this coming weekend at the Loudwire Music Festival.

The new track ‘Welcome’ is available for downloading at FortMinor.com. Stream the music video for the new song below, leave us your comments, and stay tuned with Alterock Facebook and Twitter to never miss out on the news about your favorite alternative music!
