Despite Panic! At The Disco’s heavy rotations and “high hopes”, most pop/rock AMA awards went to pop artists like BTS and Billie Eilish

To say that American Music Awards 2019 had a bit shocking results is a serious understatement. To start with, despite Ariana Grande’s and Billie Eilish’s whooping six nominations, neither of the girls ruled the night. It was Taylor Swift who took five awards and became the artist with the most AMA wins ever, Billboard reports.

The story of this weekend’s AMAs continues with underrated rock nominees all the way. Whether you hoped for Panic! At The Disco’s ‘High Hopes’ to climb to the top or imagined your favorite Imagine Dragons win the Alternative Rock award, it went to Billie Eilish instead.

However, it’s worth mentioning that the award for Favorite Song Pop/Rock went to Halsey for her hit ‘Without Me’, thus, leaving behind Jonas Brothers’ ‘Sucker’, Lil Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus’s ‘Old Town Road’, P!ATD again and Post Malone’s ‘Sunflower’. Quite an honor among such strong 2019 singles!

Wait! We nearly forgot one category in which rock outdid its pop competitors. Hats off to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, which was named the Favorite Soundtrack! Queen’s legendary song beat ‘A Star Is Born’ by Lady Gaga & Bradley and ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’. “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?…”
