Green Day’s dystopian new video shows what’s behind of the scene of the American Dream

November 17, 2017

Remember that awesome film ‘Pleasantville’ where Toby Maguire’s and Reese Witherspoon’s characters enter the black-and-white American Dream and add colours to their monochrome lives? Well, Green Day have filmed their own rendition of this American Dream life, but with a different purpose.

The new ‘Back In The USA’ music video is Green Day’s version of Pleasantville

‘Back In The USA’ is one of the two new tracks from the band’s just-released greatest hits compilation, titled God’s Favorite Band. The compilation includes 20 Green Day hits, 2 new songs, 1 new music video and “a partridge in a pear tree” (via AltPress). The other new track in the compilation, ‘Ordinary World’, features the vocals of the country singer Miranda Lambert.

God’s Favorite Band has just been released, and the story of the title for the compilation, The God’s Favorite Band, is a curious one. The band came up with it after their performance of ‘Still Breathing’ on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, where “God” makes an appearance in order to say he loves Green Day.
