‘Kool-Aid’ is expected to be featured on BMTH’s upcoming album Post Human: NeX GEn, due later this year

“New music coming very soon,” — Bring Me the Horizon promised their fans last week, delivering the sad news about parting ways with their keyboardist Jordan Fish. “Soon” turned out even sooner than most of us thought. Today, BMTH have dropped a new track, tiled ‘Kool-Aid,’ the sixth single since the 2020′ Post Human: Survival Horror EP.

Four years ago BMTH announced they’d be doing a four-EP series titled Post Human, the first one being 2020’s release Post Human: Survival Horror EP. In 2021 it was followed by singles ‘DiE4u,’ in 2022 — ‘sTraNgeRs’ and last year — ‘LosT,’ ‘AmEN!’ and ‘DArkSide’. However, their second EP Post Human: NeX GEn, expected to drop last fall, didn’t arrive as planned. It might have to do with Fish’s exit that the band had surely known about months prior to the official announcement.

Post Human: NeX GEn was then pushed to the summer of 2024, and it looks the new release is finally coming in a few months. At least, the year is off to a promising start, with brutal, heavy-guitar sounds of ‘Kool-Aid’. “Let’s be unhinged, let’s stop trying to make all the edges smooth”, Sykes said about their music direction last June, and ‘Kool-Aid’ seems to be a perfect example of that attitude.

The band’s credits for the new song mention their good old friend Dan Lancaster, who previously worked with them on That’s the Spirit and amo. The backing vocals on the track come from Lucy Landry. As for Fish, he does not appear in the credits, which marks the band’s first music without him.
