On the new album, Jim Adkins ponders on “the difference between surviving and truly living”

Jimmy Eat World chose to go deep into existentialism on their upcoming album they’ve just announced. The new record is titled Surviving and is scheduled for release on October 18. And you can get the feeling of their new album through its first single, ‘All The Way (Stay).’

This exciting news about the 10th studio album came via Twitter, as well as the announcement of a tour, which consists of U.K. and American dates. Jimmy Eat World singer Jim Adkins explained in the Twitter post that the album touches on the important question: are we really living or just surviving? And that’s where the title comes from:

“The crux of the decision is ‘Am I going to do something different or am I going to continue even though I hate who I am right now?’, wrote Adkins. “That’s the difference between surviving and truly living. That’s the point of the songs on SURVIVING.”

And not one but two album tracks are available for streaming already. One being the fresh single ‘All The Way (Stay)’, and other – a recorded version of ‘Love Never’. Enjoy the brand’s new song and music video for ‘All The Way (Stay)’, directed by Daniel Carberry:

Continuing the philosophic thread, Jimmy Eat World vocalist points out he “wouldn’t be who I am today unless everything happened exactly the way it did.” And looking back at the earlier records, it seems naive how you believed you knew it all. “Our 1999 album was called CLARITY, but I really wasn’t on a quest for clarity when we put that out,” says Adkins.

If you’d like to catch the band on their upcoming Surviving, The Tour, note down that tickets will go on sale this Friday, September 27 at this location. And, of course, preorder Surviving here right now.
