Kim Hongjoong’s ‘Numb’ is something else – from EDM elements to distinctive Korean lyrics
Linkin Park’s legendary track ‘Numb’ has recently hit 1,5 billion views on YouTube and continues inspiring artists of all kinds of genres to make their own renditions. This time it’s Korean pop artist Kim Hongjoong, one of the members of the K-pop band ATEEZ, who dared to transform the classic rock song.

Launched just a day ago, on Jan 5, the K-pop version of ‘Numb’ has already been watched half a million times. The vocalist of ATEEZ re-introduced the track from a totally new angle, intertwining rock with EDM and trap elements.
Not only does ‘Numb’ get a new cultural flavor, the song’s lyrics in verses are now also in Korean! But when it comes to our favorite catchy chorus “I’ve become so numb…”, Hongjoong takes it back to good old original Linkin Park sound. Check out the video:
ATEEZ released their latest album ZERO: FEVER Part 1 in July 2020, and by September it already made history, awarded with platinum certification on the Gaon Albums Chart. Ateez became the second fourth-generation boy band to reach one million total sales within such a short period.

As for Kim Hongjoong, the young singer is a big fan of covering English-language songs. The first cover ATEEZ singer released was in December 2019, when he launched his vision of David Bowie‘s ‘Space Oddity’. The song also had both English and Korean lyrics in the cover and didn’t go unnoticed.
His next choice was the famous ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince, soon followed by a take on Michael Jackson’s iconic ‘Black and White’, which you can check out below:
