It’s today, January 20, that Joseph R. Biden, Jr. has officially become the President Of The United States. The inauguration ceremony took place at Capitol, where Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the new U.S. Vice President, sworn in. Biden arrived at the White House for the first time as president today.
NBC News reports that the inauguration ceremony followed social distance regulations, with masks required. Following the recent Capitol riots of Donald Trump supporters, reporters were wearing bulletproof vests, adds the medium.
As expected, the Trump family did not attend the ceremony of Biden’s inauguration. Instead, the Trumps chose to rest in their Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. To make the inauguration day even more festive, Lady Gaga performed the National Anthem and Jennifer Lopez sang “This Land Is Your Land”. The inaugural day program will go on with a primetime concert featuring Justin Timberlake and Demi Lovato at 8:30 p.m. EST.

In his speech as the 46th U.S. president, Biden stressed the importance of unity. He called on U.S. citizens to overcome their divisions, pointing out that “without unity, there is no peace.” He promised to “fight as hard for those who did not support me as for those who did.” Watch Biden’s inaugural speech below:
