‘Rattle the Cage’ is a ball of thrashing guitar energy, featuring a guitar solo from legendary John 5

Nickelback “raise the battle call” in their new electric single ‘Rattle the Cage’ that got unleashed on Tuesday, July 14. The single serves as the lead track on the Canadian rock legends’ upcoming 11th studio album, titled Everything Under the Sun. The new album is due out October 30, marking the band’s first release under the label Virgin Music Group.

Speaking to Orlando’s iHeartRadio station WJRR, Kroeger described ‘Rattle the Cage’ as being about “going to a hard rock ‘n’ roll show and just letting out all your aggression, all your frustration.” The track’s pounding riffs and through-the-roof energy that have defined Nickelback’s sound over the decades is multiplied thanks to a guitar solo from renowned metal guitarist John 5, known for his collabs with Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and Mötley Crüe.

The upcoming record Everything Under the Sun will be Nickelback’s first new music since 2022’s Get Rollin’, followed by Netflix documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback and a massive record-breaking Get Rollin’ world tour, which the band calls the fastest-selling and highest-attended tour of their career.

On the new album, set for release October 30, Nickelback aspire to depict various aspects of the band: from arena-ready anthems to reflective catchy melodies. Introducing the upcoming record, frontman Chad Kroeger says:

“This album has every side of the band on it. There are songs that hit as hard as anything we’ve ever done, songs that take chances, and songs that remind us why we’ve been doing this together for so long. ‘Rattle The Cage’ felt like the perfect way to kick the door open — it has the energy we’ve been feeding off every night on stage, and we can’t wait for people to hear it.”

With more than 30 years in and nearly 60 million albums sold worldwide, Nickelback see Everything Under the Sun as both a celebration of everything they’ve built and a showcase of a new music chapter, more fierce and energy-driven than ever before.
